The Earth Is Speaking—Are We Listening?

Earth Day 2025

There’s something haunting about a beautiful song carrying a heavy truth.

When I decided to cover Donald Glover’s “Feels Like Summer,” I wasn’t just moved by the melody—I was moved by the message. It’s subtle, poetic, and still devastating. On the surface, the song is breezy. It feels like walking barefoot on warm concrete. Like long days and slow evenings. But underneath that calm is a warning, a cry for attention.

The lyrics speak about overpopulation, climate crisis, species extinction, and the systems of power that continue to look the other way. Glover doesn’t raise his voice—he lets the calmness carry the weight. That’s what inspired me to sing it. I wanted to lend my own voice to something that matters, on a day when we’re asked to care a little more about the planet we’re borrowing from future generations.

Earth Day is not just about going green or recycling more (though those things matter). It’s about looking at the systems we’re part of, the way we live, and the impact we’re making. It’s about accountability and awareness. It’s about doing better, even in small ways.

This cover is my reminder: that music is a powerful mirror. It can make you dance while you cry, groove while you grieve. And it can make you listen when the world needs you to.

Take a moment today to honor the Earth. Slow down. Reflect. Do something different.
If you’ve got a voice—use it.
